The Nigerian midfielder is now set to miss crucial LaLiga fixtures after an incident that saw him confront the centre referee.
Uche sent off in tense LaLiga game
Things really went downhill for Uche when he found himself on the wrong side of the law late in the match against Espanyol.
)
Initially, the referee showed him a yellow card for what seemed like a clumsy tackle, but after taking another look via VAR, the card was upgraded to a straight red.
Uche had accidentally stamped on an Espanyol player’s shin, and the replay made it look worse than it probably was.
)
However, instead of heading down the tunnel quietly, the Super Eagles hopeful made things worse by refusing to leave the pitch.
He stormed towards the referee in what was deemed a rather aggressive manner, which led to his own teammates and Getafe staff having to step in and drag him away from the scene.
LaLiga lays down the law, Uche set to miss key fixtures
That little episode has now cost him an extended ban, with the Nigerian youngster now set to miss more than the customary one match for a straight red card.
)
The referee's report did not help Uche’s case either. It stated that he used excessive force and described his reaction as confrontational and disrespectful.
So LaLiga’s disciplinary committee extended what would normally be a one-match suspension to three games. One of those has already passed, as Uche was not in the squad for the Real Madrid clash.
)
However, he will still miss upcoming fixtures against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia, which are crucial in Getafe’s bid to finish strong this season.
