Sunderland vs Liverpool - Arne Slot’s Reds end Black Cats' unbeaten run at Stadium of Light

The Reds have had a difficult week following their 2-1 loss to Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The loss put a dent in their chance for European football and they needed a boost in their game against the Black Cats.

They were able to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Sunderland, with the victory ending their unbeaten streak at the Stadium of Light this season.

For Liverpool, it was a first Premier League start of the season for Wataru Endo, who started at right-back, with Andy Robertson coming in at left-back.

The first half failed to produce any goals as both teams could not create any chances to get the ball into the back of the net.

Liverpool had a breakthrough early in the second half from Salah's corner that was met by Virgil van Dijk and was headed towards the goal.

The Black Cats pushed for an equaliser late in the game but were unable to get past the Reds' defensive setup.

Sunderland’s unbeaten home record this season came to an end after the final whistle was blown as Liverpool stole a narrow victory at the Stadium of Light.
