'Oti ma biatu' has a full in-tray with escaping relegation his main remit.

Shabana have ended their two-month wait for a new coach with the appointment of former Tusker and Gor Mahia legend Sammy Omollo ‘Pamzo’ as head coach.

Pamzo had been jobless ever since leaving Kenya Police in December 2022 following a poor start to the league season, but Shabana will hope he can be the man to take them out of their predicament and become a top side.

Shabana were set on signing Nicholas Muyoti as new head coach, but as earlier reported by Pulse Sports, Muyoti opted to stay put at City Stars having held talks with the club’s hierarchy.

In a statement released by the club’s social media handles, Shabana expressed their pride at having appointed Pamzo, who will bring a lot of expertise to the dugout in their quest to become an established FKF Premier League club.

“It is with great pleasure that we confirm the appointment of Sammy ‘ Pamzo’ Omollo as the head coach of Shabana FC effective today Jan 10, 2024,” it read.

“Sammy Omollo brings a wealth of experience, expertise and proven track record in the realm of football coaching.

“We extend our best wishes to Sammy Omollo in this new role and anticipate a successful tenure.”

Omollo joined Police in 2022 after he, alongside expatriate coach Mark Harrison, were sent packing at Gor Mahia in January this year following a string of poor results.

The former Kenyan international would have been delighted to be entrusted with the coaching job at Kenya Police FC - a side that signaled their intent to fight with the big boys in the top flight following their promotion from the National Super League (NSL).

However, just nine months later, Omollo, who lifted the 2011 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title with Tusker, was no more bringing his stay at the law enforcers to a very abrupt end.

Since then, he had been linked with moves to Bandari and even eyed the Ulinzi Stars job before the Soldiers opted to appoint Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani during the off season.

Pamzo, admitted to be looking at ways to get back to coaching to Pulse Sports a few months back  after a refreshing break and had  revealed that it would only take a club with long term plans and that will give him time to build a formidable squad that will lure secure his signature owing to the lessons he has picked along the way.

He will now be hoping that Shabana is the team that he can build a long term project with as they seek to become a side that can become an established top flight team having won promotion back as NSL champions last year after a 17-year-spell in the wilderness.
