The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has initiated an independent investigation into the coaching staff of Bay FC, following allegations of a toxic team culture under head coach Albertin Montoya.

"We are initiating a formal review of the communications between technical staff and the players at Bay FC and will take the appropriate steps necessary based on the findings of that review," the league said in a statement.
The investigation will be conducted by an independent third party, with no limits placed on its scope.
