The Belgian striker is the latest high-profile player being courted by the new-found wealth of Saudi clubs

Romelu Lukaku is the latest high-profile player being eyed by Saudi Arabian clubs following reports that he was in the country on Monday for talks with Al Hilal.

The striker, on loan from Chelsea to Inter Milan, traveled to Saudi Arabia in the wake of his team's 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League last weekend.

According to GOAL, Lukaku has an offer of a two-year contract accompanied by a salary of €25 million euros per season but the players has reportedly asked for more.

Al Hilal will also have to deal with his parent club Chelsea where he is under contract until 2026. The Blues, who wish to downsize their bloated squad, will be open to offers for the Belgian forward whom they signed for €115 million in 2021.

Chelsea are thought to want in excess of €50 million for Lukaku, an amount the Saudi club do not wish to pay.

Lukaku is due to return to Chelsea following the expiry of his loan deal but he recently admitted that he prefers to stay with the Italian side rather than return to West London.

Al Hilal are the club that offered Lionel Messi a mammoth €400 million per year to join them before he opted for a move to MLS side Inter Miami last week.

Saudi clubs continue to market themselves among European stars and have already netted Real Madrid legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, both of a reported salary of €200 million per year, at Al-Nassr and Al Ittihad respectively.

Eight months after his departure from Aston Villa, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is also headed to Saudi Arabia where he is set to become the new coach of Ettifaq, while Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has an €100 million per year offer from Al Ittihad.
