Liverpool reportedly want to protect their stars from a relentless Real Madrid.

Liverpool are reportedly upset with Real Madrid regarding their ongoing interest in defender Ibrahima Konate, amid annoyance over the manner of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit.

Alexander-Arnold revealed he would leave Anfield at the end of the season, with many expecting him to join the Spanish giants, who have an agreement in place.

Despite Liverpool's efforts to retain the England international, the full-back remains steadfast in his intention to sign for Madrid.

How Liverpool intend to get even with Real Madrid

Los Blancos aim to include him in their squad for the Club World Cup in June; however, Liverpool are determined to block his early release, insisting he fulfil his contract through to the end of June as part of their strategy to take ‘revenge’, as reported by TEAMtalk

The news states that the tension is further exacerbated by reports that Madrid plan to sign Konate when his contract expires in the summer of 2026.

The French centre-back has declined to extend his deal with Liverpool, who are said to be angered by Real Madrid's willingness to wait a year to acquire the French centre-back without a transfer fee, especially after losing Alexander-Arnold in a similar fashion.

Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 for £36 million and has made 130 appearances, contributing five goals.
