The 18-year-old midfielder made the €20 million switch from Fenerbahce and had spoken about his eagerness to kick off his Real Madrid career, but will have to wait a few more weeks after undergoing surgery for a meniscus injury.

The surgey will rule the midfield prodigy out of action for at least four to six weeks, meaning that he will miss the start of the 2023/24 LaLiga season as well as the start of Real Madrid’s European campaign.

Real Madrid face race against time to replace injured superstar

The news of Guler requiring surgery comes on the same day that Real Madrid announced that furst choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be ruled out for the entire 2023/24 campaign after he suffered an ACL rupture.

Courtois and Guler join midfielder Dani Ceballos on Real Madrid’s growing injury list, and Los Blancos will hope that they are the last in a recent spate of injuries as the start of LaLiga approaches.

Real Madrid open their 2023/24 LaLiga campaign on Saturday, August 12th, with a tough fixture against Athletic Club and will hope to have found a suitable replacement for Courtois by then.
