Napoli appear determined to sell Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, and have already started making plans to replace the frontman

In the midst of transfer speculation surrounding Victor Osimhen's future at Napoli, the club's focus seems to be shifting towards potential replacements.

Giovanni Manna, the next Napoli sporting director, recently held discussions with the entourage of Lille striker Jonathan David regarding a possible summer transfer.

Napoli Ready to Sell Osimhen

Napoli appears prepared to part ways with Victor Osimhen and capitalize on his release clause, which stands at approximately €130 million. This substantial fee would provide Napoli with the financial means to overhaul their squad. Meanwhile, the club is still in the process of appointing a new long-term head coach, with notable names such as Antonio Conte, Stefano Pioli, and Gian Piero Gasperini being linked to the position.

Jonathan David meets with Napoli ahead of potential Move

Jonathan David, who currently plays for Lille, has emerged as a prime candidate to replace Osimhen at Napoli. With just over a year remaining on his contract with Lille, the Canadian striker seems inclined to seek a new challenge after spending four years with the French side. Serie A clubs, including Napoli and Milan, have expressed interest in acquiring David's services.

According to reports from TMW, Giovanni Manna, the incoming sporting director of Napoli, held discussions with Jonathan David's representatives in Milan last week to explore the possibility of a transfer in the upcoming summer window. During the meeting, David's preferences regarding contract terms were revealed. The 24-year-old striker is reportedly seeking a five-year deal worth around €3 million net per season, along with additional performance-based bonuses.

Path to Agreement

Jonathan David has expressed his approval of Napoli's project and appears eager to join the club. Now, the ball is in Napoli's court to negotiate a deal with Lille. While Lille initially sought a transfer fee in the range of €35-40 million in January, the asking price has now risen to approximately €50 million. Napoli aims to negotiate the fee down to €35 million, supplemented by additional add-ons, to secure David's services for the upcoming season.
