Tusker kept their dream of retaining the league alive with a slim win over Police FC.

Gor Mahia’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title charge was hit by yet another setback after a 2-2 draw against Posta Rangers.

Although the expectations of K’Ogalo – who threw away a 2-0 lead – did not go as expected, their dependable goalscorer Benson Omala had another fruitful day on the pitch.

Omala scored a brace to take his tally to 24 goals, which incredibly increased his chances of winning the Golden Boot award.

Rangers, who have always frustrated Gor Mahia, especially under coach John Kamau, scored through Calvin Odongo before an own goal by Gad Mathews helped them earn a vital point at Nyayo Stadium.

With the result, Gor Mahia are now feeling more pressure as only two points separate them from second-placed Tusker. To make matters worse for the record champions, the reigning champions have a game in hand.

At Bukhungu Stadium, AFC Leopards’ match against Kakamega Homeboyz had to be abandoned following crowd trouble.

Homeboyz took a 24th-minute lead with a goal from Hillary Otieno before hell broke loose.

Reports indicate AFC Leopards’ fans stormed the pitch and confronted the officials for what they alleged to have been a bad call on the part of the referee.

Fans felt that Farouk Shikhalo handled the ball outside his goalkeeping area, but the referee did not punish the Homeboyz goalkeeper, leading to fans’ protests that eventually ended the game almost 10 minutes after Homeboyz had scored.

At the Ulinzi Complex, Ulinzi Stars registered their first win in seven games after beating Kariobangi Sharks.

An all-important goal by Bonaventure Muchika saw the 10-man home side get the points that took their tally to 37, four more than the Sharks.

At the Kasarani Annex, Vihiga Bullets’ season struggles persisted after going down 5-2 to Nairobi City Stars.

Kelvin Etemesi – with a brace - Dennis Wanjala, Joseph Oyugi, and Samuel Kapen scored for Simba wa Nairobi, while Bullets’ goals were scored by Vincent Owino and the other was an own goal by Kennedy Onyango.

On Saturday, ambitious Police FC suffered their seventh loss of the season after going down 1-0 to Tusker at the Nyayo Stadium.

Shaphan Oyugi scored for the Brewers, who registered their 15th win of the season to keep more pressure on league leaders Gor Mahia.

Elsewhere, after a 1-0 win over Bidco United, Bandari moved up to seventh place, while Bidco, with their 13th season loss, remained in 14th.

A goal by Rodgers Aloro is what powered the Dockers past the home side in a tightly fought contest at Kasarani Annex.
