Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slams players' agents and family members, labels them disease to football

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken a swipe at players' agents and family members, who he believes are detrimental to the growth of the game.

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shared for the first time some of the things he learnt during his time at the club. 

Solskjaer has slammed players' agents and their family members following his experience at the Premier League giants.

The 50-year-old spent three years at the club before he was sacked following a run of poor results with the Red Devils in 2021.

Speaking to the Athletic in his first-ever full interview since he was sacked by the Red Devils more than two years ago, the Norwegian has relived some bitter moments.

According to him, things have changed from where he played for the club, with agents and family playing negative roles. 

Speaking on the state of the club which he handed over to the interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, Ole said; “I told him when I gave my opinion on every player that things had gone sour.”

“The collective had been lostt and that’s not Man United, where teams are built on collective,” he said. 

“Some players felt they should have played more and weren’t constructive to the environment, That’s a huge sin for me. When i didn’t start games i wanted to prove to the manager he’d made the wrong decision.”

On the role of agents and family members, the former Cardiff City boss added;

“Now, a lot of players aren’t like that. Agents and family members get into their heads and tell them they are better than they are because they have a vested interest. It’s a disease of modern football.”
