Thomas Muller weighs in on the GOAT debate, giving reasons for his selection.

The Bayern Munich forward has faced both players a number of times in his career, and although he thinks both players are exceptional, one just edges it for him.

What Muller said

When asked by Dazn who he thought the GOAT was, the World Cup winner replied, saying Messi, but not without reason.

He explained that Messi made people turn up at stadiums for him. He reasoned that his elegance is unmatched by any and that makes him such a crowd-puller.

Muller went on to praise his goal-scoring and ability to change games and lead teams to win titles, on top of his aesthetic qualities.

The Germany international believes that Ronaldo also excels at putting numbers on the board, as well as influencing title-winning campaigns; however, Messi's ability to add elegance on top of those other qualities pulls him clear in Muller's opinion.

“Who is the greatest of all time? The GOAT for me is Messi because he makes people say 'I go to the stadium because of his elegance' and at the same time he is very effective in scoring goals and achieving records and titles,” Muller said, per @AlbicelesteTalk(X).

"Cristiano is also a strong candidate in two categories, which are stats and titles, but Messi is simply more subtle and elegant.”
