Manchester United target Bundesliga star as Amorim desperate for midfield signing
Manchester United have set their sights on Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller as a fallback option after failing to secure Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.
Baleba was United’s top midfield target this summer, but Brighton’s £100m+ valuation halted negotiations, prompting the Red Devils to explore alternatives.
Stiller, 24, emerged as a key candidate following a standout season with Stuttgart, where his performances drew comparisons to Toni Kroos for his ball-playing prowess.
Real Madrid briefly considered Stiller as a potential replacement for Kroos and Luka Modrić but opted to wait for a marquee signing, leaving the door open for United.
No formal talks have occurred with Stuttgart, and Stiller’s contract includes a €40m release clause, effective only in 2026.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg. United’s immediate focus is on raising funds through player sales, with ongoing discussions involving Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho.
Additionally, striker Rasmus Hojlund is closing in on a move to Serie A side Napoli, after being frozen out of Amorim's plans.
