Manchester United have reportedly returned with an improved bid for Chelsea's Mason Mount despite having two previous offers rejected.

Manchester United have reportedly made a third improved bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, as they are keen on landing him this summer.

The 24-year-old England international refused contract extension proposals from his boyhood club, favouring a move to the Red Devils.

What happened

According to the Athletic's David Ornstein, the Manchester side have returned to the negotiation table with a new offer for Mount.

The Erik ten Hag-coached side are keen on landing the midfielder, despite having had two previous bids rejected, the most recent being a £45+5 million offer.

The West Londoners reportedly countered Manchester United's last offer with £60+7 million, a fee higher than the latest offer on the table.

According to the report, the new bid is worth up to £55 million, £50 million of which is a guaranteed fee, while £5 million is in add-ons.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea accepts this offer, as the recently reported sale of Havertz to Arsenal and a number of players to Saudi Arabia or on the brink of joining have reduced their urgency to make sales before the end of the month for FFP reasons.

Meanwhile, Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has reportedly agreed to join Arsenal this summer despite heavy links to Manchester United.
