The Gunners submitted an offer worth £30million earlier this month, but it was rejected by Ajax who have been holding out for closer to £50million.
Arsenal are convinced they can strike a deal for less than the asking price and have moved to agree personal terms with the 22-year-old. Fabrizio adds that Timber is very keen on he switch and Ajax are expecting a second bid imminently, which could lead to a swift conclusion.
