Fabrizio Romano, who recently posted on his Twitter account, said that "Man City have opened concrete talks to sign Mateo Kovacic in the summer. Positive discussions took place with the player's camp in the last few days over personal terms."
The 29-year-old could be on his way to the Etihad in the coming weeks if a deal can be agreed upon between both clubs, with Chelsea open to selling the midfielder in the summer.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is also monitoring other targets as they prepare a possible replacement for Ikay Gündogan who could leave when his contract expires in June.
