Deputy Chief Constable Jenny Sims declined to provide further details at Thursday's press conference. "I fully understand how shocked and saddened we all are by this incident, and I know that many will continue to have concerns and questions.

"Our detectives are working tirelessly, diligently and professionally to find the answers to all of those questions," Sims said, according to the Associated Press.

Thousands of fans gathered in Liverpool city centre to celebrate the club's 20th top-flight English league title. The parade route spanned approximately 10 miles, with an open-top bus carrying Liverpool players among the throngs of supporters.

The incident occurred after 6 p.m. local time (7 p.m. CEST) on Water Street. The driver reportedly followed an ambulance to bypass roadblocks erected for the celebrations.

A video circulating on social media shows the driver repeatedly changing direction within the crowd, seemingly attempting to hit as many people as possible.

Witnesses attempted to stop the vehicle, with several individuals being thrown over the hood. Police eventually apprehended the driver after he became surrounded by the crowd. Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene to transport the injured.
