Liverpool's Darwin Nunez scored twice to keep up Liverpool's reputation of scoring late winners in the EPL

Premier League giants Liverpool have been crowned the Kings of Late Goals after snatching a win from the jaws of defeat against Newcastle thanks to a late double from substitute Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool profit from yet another late winner

Nunez scored an equaliser for Liverpool after 81 minutes and then scored a dramatic winner for the Reds against Newcastle in the third minute of additional time with a superb finish to give the Reds all three points.

His goal meant that Liverpool increased their lead at the top of the late goals chart with their 42nd additional-time winner in the Premier League era.

That leaves them with at least 12 more game-winning goals in extra-time than the next best team on the list, Arsenal, who have scored 30 game-winners after regulation 90 minutes.

Liverpool reach worrying Red card milestone

The late goals from Nunez rescued all three points for Liverpool after the Reds went down to 10 men against Newcastle following the sending off of captain Virgil Van Dijk.

The sending-off was Van Dijk’s first since 2016, but worryingly, Liverpool’s second in two games, albeit the other red card, given to Alexis Mac Allister, was rescinded after review.

It was the first time under Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool have had red cards in consecutive matches after the Reds’ last suffered consecutive red cards in 2015 against Manchester United and Arsenal.
