Leicester City Women have initiated an investigation into manager Willie Kirk over accusations of engaging in a relationship with one of the players.

As reported by The Guardian, Kirk has been suspended from his duties while the club looks into the matter. The upcoming match against Liverpool will see assistant manager Jennifer Foster and first-team coach Stephen Kirby at the helm in Kirk's absence.

The club provided a statement to The Guardian, stating, "Willie Kirk is assisting the club with an internal process, the outcomes of which will be determined in due course."

Willie Kirk's Background and Previous Roles

Willie Kirk joined Leicester City in July 2022 as the director of football before assuming the role of manager on November 3, succeeding Lydia Bedford.

Prior to his tenure at Leicester, Kirk has managed various teams, including Hibernian Women, Preston men's team, Bristol City, and Everton in the Women's Super League.

Additionally, he briefly served as an assistant at Manchester United in 2018, showcasing his experience in the realm of women's football.
