Legal or Illegal? Premier League demands explanation over Chelsea & Saudi Arabia transfers

The Premier League reportedly requested written confirmation from Chelsea that there were no Saudi Arabian links to their ownership after the questionable number of deals between both parties.

Chelsea have faced heavy criticism in recent days after a large number of the club's stars were linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League.

The concerns of football lovers and observers spilled over to the governing body as the PL wrote to Chelsea following the flurry of player departures.

According to The Telegraph,  Premier League had received concerns from other clubs which prompted the decision to seek assurances that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) was not in any way part of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s takeover of Chelsea.

Newcastle United are already owned by the Saudi PIF, and concerns have grown about their involvement with Chelsea but Premier League officials are now satisfied that there are no conflicts of interest between both parties.
