LaLiga's campaign to rid football of racism continued with a thrilling street competition.

The football community has lauded LALIGA's latest efforts to tackle racism, as the Spanish top-flight league took its anti-discrimination campaign to the streets of Lagos, Nigeria.

The "PUMA BALL STREET KINGS" tournament, the third of its kind organised by LALIGA in Lagos over the past three years, was the centrepiece of the league's global "LALIGA vs Racism" initiative.

The event featured teams from local communities, including estate-based sides and a special journalists' team, in a display of the grassroots approach of the campaign.

Desmond Chiji, LaLiga's Delegate in Nigeria, highlighted the significance of the tournament, saying, "The tournament is the ideal showcase for the sense of community and tolerance that the LaLiga vs Racism platform is all about. Racism has no place in football or society. Through LaLiga vs Racism, we are reaffirming our commitment to transparency, unity, and diversity, which truly make the game beautiful."

Tresor Penku, the Managing Director for LaLiga Africa, reechoed these sentiments, emphasising the league's determination to use football as a vehicle for meaningful change. 

"Football is a unifying force that transcends borders and cultures. The efforts globally are a testament to our determination to ensure that football remains a safe and inclusive space for all," he stated.
