Kenyan professionals at Simba SC shine in the CAF Champions League, representing national pride despite local clubs' absence in the quarterfinals.

Kenya is represented in the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League quarterfinals not through its clubs but via the remarkable contributions of Michael Igendia and Wycliffe Omom, who are making waves with Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

Despite Gor Mahia's absence from the continental showdown due to licensing issues, Kenya's flag is flown high by these dedicated professionals.

Simba clinched their spot by edging out Wydad Casablanca on goal difference in Group B setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash against record champions Al Ahly.

The first leg of this titanic battle is scheduled in Tanzania on March 29, with the return leg in Cairo just a week later.

The stakes could not be higher, as the winner will progress to face either Petro Atletico or TP Mazembe in the semifinals.

At the heart of Simba's success is Wycliffe Omom, the club's physiotherapist, whose expertise and dedication have kept the team in peak physical condition.

Having joined the club seven months ago, Omom has quickly established himself as one of the continent's premier physiotherapists, also serving the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars.

"There are no major injuries with the players as we approach the quarterfinals against Al Ahly. I ensure that all players are fit and in good health. I expect better performance," Omom shared with Pulse Sports.

Kenya's representation extends beyond Simba SC, with Brian Mandela flying the flag high in South Africa.

The seasoned defender plays for Mamelodi Sundowns, who are set to face Young Africans in another gripping quarterfinal matchup.

Mandela's experience and leadership will be crucial for Sundowns as they navigate through the challenges of the tournament, aiming for a spot in the semifinals against the victor of the match between Al Ahly and Simba SC.
