Eight months in, Wycliff Omom reflects on boosting Simba SC's performance with his physio expertise ahead of the CAF Champions League quarterfinal.

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have seen a significant transformation since the addition of Kenyan physiotherapist Wycliff Omom to their technical bench at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

Omom, who joined Simba SC on a two-year deal after previous tenures with Mathare United and Kenya Police FC, has quickly become a cornerstone of the team's success, particularly in their impressive run in this season’s African Champions League.

With the team on the brink of a historic achievement, Omom took a moment to reflect on his contributions and the prospect of clinching the continent's top club competition.

"Since my arrival, I've focused on enhancing our physiotherapy and injury prevention strategies, ensuring that our department operates at the highest standard for the benefit of the players and the team," Omom shared with Pulse Sports.

The seasoned physiotherapist approach has evidently paid dividends, contributing to a remarkable season that sees Simba just steps away from their first-ever Champions League title.

"Keeping the level of injuries low has been a pivotal aspect of our strategy, alongside ensuring quick and effective treatment for those inevitable injuries," Omom added.

Simba SC's journey this season has been nothing short of remarkable, with the team reaching the quarter-final of the African Champions League.

The Msimbazi Reds are now on a quest to clinch the continent's top club competition for the first time in their storied history.

Facing the formidable Al Ahly of Egypt, Simba SC's upcoming matches are not just a test of their prowess but also a historic opportunity to etch their name in the annals of African football.

The first leg is slated to take place in Tanzania on March 29th, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter.

For Omom, the prospect of Simba SC winning the CAF Champions League is more than just a professional achievement; it represents a significant milestone in his career.

"For sure, that would create immense value for my personal brand. It would bring more opportunities in terms of my career, and I know it will provide more exposure, experience, and networks, which will add value to my name," Omom shared.

Looking ahead, Omom remains open to the future, acknowledging that the outcome of the upcoming matches could influence his career trajectory.

"Regarding whether at that time I will consider staying or not, I think that the circumstances will dictate that and the situation at that particular moment will determine that. So I can't say much about that," he remarked.

As Simba SC continues its quest for glory in the African Champions League, the contributions of Wycliffe Omom to the team's success cannot be overstated.

His expertise in physiotherapy and injury prevention has been a cornerstone of Simba's impressive performance underscoring the critical role of off-field personnel in the success of football teams.
