Juventus have moved up four places in the Serie A table after having 15 points reinstated
Serie A club Juventus have had their 15-point deduction from earlier in the season reversed, after winning an appeal against the decision.
Juventus back in UEFA Champions League places after successful appeal
With the decision to overturn the 15-point deduction, the Turin club move to third on the table from a previous position of seventh, leaving Juventus with a great chance of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
They now sit on 59 points, only two behind Lazio in second place, who are on 61 points. The Old Lady now find themselves three points ahead of Roma, who now move to fourth and six points ahead of Milan in fifth.
Juventus were docked 15 points after prosecutors accused them of inflating transfer values and lying to financial officials in an attempt to save money.
An investigation was opened last year regarding the club's finances with it being claimed that their losses had been misrepresented between 2018 and 2020.
Juventus denied any wrongdoing but the Federal Court of the Italian Football Federation has found them guilty and slapped them with a huge points deduction.
As well as the points deduction, the board members were also been hit with suspensions by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
Juventus sentence suspended amidst new trial
Juventus' quest to play in next season's UCL was given a major boost by having the 15 points reinstated, and they will be happy to know that the points can not be taken away until at least the 2023/24 season.
This comes after Juventus' lawyers argued for a new trial that cannot occur until the new season ends, meaning that any punishment for Juventus, if they are found guilty, will only come when the next season starts.
The Old Lady was able to get the previous sentence overturned after their lawyers were able to argue that the motive behind the previous ruling and protection was unclear and needed to be investigated by a new trial.
The decision is sure to cause an uproar among other Serie A clubs, especially those vying for European contention including Roma, Inter and AC Milan.
