Ronaldo and Ighalo both grabbed braces in wins for their teams.

Odion Ighalo's Al-Hilal and Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr were victorious in their Saudi Professional League matches today, and both superstars scored a brace for their teams, heating up the golden boot race in the league.

Ighalo powers Al-Hilal over Al-Fahya

Ighalo inspired his team to a crucial 2-0 victory that propelled them into the top four. Ighalo grabbed a brace in the game, and his first came in first-half injury time when he finished a sweeping team move to hand Al-Hilal the lead.

His second came late in the half again, scoring late in the second-half after combining well with his teammate before cutting into his right foot and burying the ball into the net.

Ronaldo scores again in dominant Al-Nassr victory

The Portuguese star was in inspired form post-international break as his brace helped Faris Najd to a comfortable victory.

Ronaldo gave his team the lead from the penalty spot in the 40th minute of the game after Al-Amri was fouled in the box.

Anderson Talisca grabbed the second, before Ronaldo made it three, grabbing his brace for the night thanks to a well-angled shot with his weak foot.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia Professional League (SPL) club Al Hilal are set to pay a record-breaking sum to sign Lionel Messi this summer.

Messi’s future is currently a subject of debate, with the World Cup winner set to leave PSG this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi Arabian club are interested in signing Messi and are ready to offer him the biggest salary in sporting history, €400m/year.

Messi’s long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the highest-paid athlete in the world after sealing a €200m/year deal with Al Nassr following his exit from Manchester United.

However, Al Nassr’s rivals, Al Hilal are ready to double that amount to sign Messi. Should Messi accept the offer, the Argentine will link up with Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo, who is currently Al Hilal’s top marksman.
