Chelsea striker crisis have deepened as Marc Guiu faces months on the sidelines.

Chelsea's striker woes have worsened after manager Enzo Maresca revealed that Marc Guiu is set to miss several months due to an abductor injury.

The young striker suffered the setback during Monday's 2-1 win over West Ham, and initial optimism has given way to a more pessimistic prognosis.

"Marc Guiu, unfortunately, it's a bad injury. Could be [long-term], yeah. We are still waiting, but it doesn't look like a short injury. It's a long injury. Probably weeks or months," Maresca said on Friday.

The news is a big blow to Chelsea, who had high hopes for Guiu's development this season. The teenager, signed from Barcelona last summer, had impressed in the Conference League and was earmarked for a more prominent role in the second half of the campaign.

To compound Chelsea's striker shortage, Nicolas Jackson is also a major doubt for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Brighton due to a hamstring problem.

However, Maresca suggested that Jackson's injury is less severe than Guiu's.

"Nico is better. He could [play this weekend], but it could be a risk. We'll see. It doesn't look like a long injury," Maresca said.

Chelsea's injury woes don't stop there, as midfielder Romeo Lavia is still some way off a return due to ongoing injury problems.

The Blues will be hoping for a swift recovery for their injured players to alleviate their striker shortage and maintain momentum in the season.
