The former Warriors captain was the first Zimbabwean to play in the Uefa Champions League with Galatasaray.

Harambee Stars' opponents at the upcoming Four-Nations Tournament in Malawi, the Zimbabwe national football team, have made a significant move by appointing Norman Mapeza as their new head coach.

This decision comes as the team prepares for a competitive showdown against hosts Malawi, Kenya, and Zambia from March 18th to 26th in Lilongwe.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced the appointment of Mapeza, who steps into the role for the sixth time in his illustrious career, taking over from Baltemore Brito.

Norman Mapeza, aged 51, is not new to the challenges and expectations that come with leading the Zimbabwe Warriors.

Mapeza, a former national team captain and the first Zimbabwean to grace the UEFA Champions League with Galatasaray, has a decorated history both as a player and a coach.

Currently at the helm of FC Platinum, a leading club in the Zimbabwe Premier League, Mapeza has led the team to multiple league titles, showcasing his tactical acumen and leadership skills.

"ZIFA is pleased to announce that Norman Mapeza has been appointed as the interim head coach of the men’s Zimbabwe national team, for the upcoming four-nations tournament in Malawi," ZIFA stated.

Assisting Mapeza in his quest for glory at the Four-Nations Tournament will be Takesure Chiragwi, the head coach of Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Together, they aim to craft a strategy that will see Zimbabwe triumph against their opponents, including the formidable Harambee Stars of Kenya.

In another development aimed at strengthening the future of Zimbabwean football, ZIFA announced the appointment of Simon Marange as the new Head Coach of the U20 men’s national team.

Marange, who currently serves as the Orlando Pirates reserve team coach, brings a wealth of experience in nurturing young talent.

His track record with the Orlando Pirates' youth teams, including winning the prestigious Future Champions Trophy, underscores his ability to develop elite youth players for the professional stage.
