Two Gor Mahia players have been included in the FKFPL team of the week.

Posta Rangers’ Kennedy Owino makes the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) Team for the Week for the second time in a row as Gor Mahia pair also make the cut

The FKF Premier League has unveiled its Team of the Week following the second round of FKF premier league matches that took place over the weekend.

Some standout performers from the week deservedly made their way into the team, which will certainly encourage them to push to make the team on a more regular basis in the remaining 32 matches of the season.

Below is the FKFPL team of the week after matchday two of the 2023/2024 season:

GK- John Njau : Posta Rangers

In between the sticks is John Njau, who made the Team of the Week thanks to his assured performances between the sticks during their shock 3-0 win over Kenya Police FC last Saturday.

Njau looked assured in goal, which will give him the confidence he needs to maintain the number one shirt for the John Kamau-coached outfit moving forward.

LB-Geoffrey Ochieng- Gor Mahia

At left back is Gor Mahia’s Geoffrey ‘Simiti’ Ochieng, who makes the team after his performance against Ulinzi Stars with his positional awareness, which put him in the Team of the Week.

RB- Elvis Osok- Posta

The right-back held his own against Police left wingback David ‘Messi’ Owino as Francis Baraza’s 3-5-2 formation simply never worked against Posta.

CB- Kennedy Owino-Posta

Kennedy Owino is the only player who made the Team of the Week last week and maintained his place after match week two thanks to his assured performance at the heart of the Posta defense both with and without the ball.

CB-Edward Satulo- Bandari

Bandari’s Edward Satulo made the team of the week as Bandari held their own against Sofapaka at the Kasarani Annex on Friday.

CM-Keith Imbali- Kariobangi Sharks

Keith Imbali was on the scoresheet as Kariobangi Sharks forced Tusker to a draw in their first away match of the season in Ruaraka.

CM- Kevin Juma- Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia’s Kevin Juma scored the lone goal as they resorted to using an ‘unconventional’ style to beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Saturday.

LW- Hassan Abdallah- Bandari

Hassan Aballah was on song for the Dockers, getting the assist for Umaru Kasumba’s goal as the Mombasa-based outfit beat Sofapaka 1-0 in Nairobi.

RW- Justin Omwando- Shabana

Justin Omwando scored Shabana’s sole goal during their 1-1 draw with FC Talanta at the Nyayo National Stadium which should have won them the game, but the newly-promoted club could not hang on to their lead.

CF- Derrick Otanga -KCB

Derrick Otanga came off the bench to score the winning goal against AFC Leopards at the Kasarani Stadium on Friday evening, getting him into the Team of the Week.

CF- Titus Kapchanga - Murang’a Seal

Murang’a Seal’s Titus Kapchanga scored the only goal as the newly-promoted outfit upset defending FKF Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday afternoon.
