Before the match, Mikel Arteta stated that "more time is needed" to establish a precise diagnosis.

It has now been confirmed that Havertz will undergo knee surgery, but the London club is hopeful he will be out for weeks rather than months, as reported by Sportal.

This latest setback comes at a particularly bad time for Arteta, who is already without several key players. Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, Christian Nørgaard, Ben White, and Gabriel Jesus are all sidelined with injuries.

The team's only currently available striker is Swede Viktor Gyökeres, who scored his first two Premier League goals against Leeds.

Havertz's injury has also accelerated Arsenal's transfer plans, with the club signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace for £60 million. The England international has already started training with the Gunners and could make his debut soon.

In the next round, Arsenal will travel to Anfield to face reigning champions Liverpool. Both teams have started the 2025/26 Premier League season with a perfect record of two wins, setting the stage for a major clash.
