The Turkish champions are keen on adding proven Champions League pedigree to support Victor Osimhen and elevate their continental push.

Galatasaray target Alaba as contract winds down

According to reports from Spanish media, Galatasaray are pursuing Real Madrid and Austria centre-back David Alaba, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

The 33-year-old is said to be assessing options to continue his career abroad, with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia emerging as the leading destinations, as reported by DefensaCentral.

Despite lucrative offers from Saudi clubs, Alaba is reportedly leaning towards a move to Galatasaray, attracted by the opportunity to continue playing in European competitions.

The Istanbul giants are currently competing in the UEFA Champions League, a factor believed to be key in convincing the four-time Champions League winner to consider the move as he seeks a return to top-level football.

Galatasaray concentrate efforts in Madrid

Alaba’s recent years at Real Madrid have been hampered by persistent injury problems. After suffering a serious setback that kept him out for over a year, the Austrian defender has struggled for rhythm and consistency.

This season, he has featured for just 145 minutes across domestic and European competitions and has again been sidelined, missing seven matches due to another injury.

Meanwhile, Turkish media have also linked Galatasaray with a potential move for another Real Madrid centre-back, Antonio Rüdiger.

The German international, who is dealing with serious injury issues, is reportedly open to offers. His contract also expires at the end of the season, with an estimated transfer value of €12 million.

Galatasaray are expected to submit a formal approach in the coming weeks, as they look to bolster their defence and build a squad capable of making a deeper impact in Europe alongside Osimhen.
