Former Al Nassr star confirms Ronaldo in transfer conversation with Club World Cup team

Former Galatasaray winger Nordin Amrabat said that his club, Wydad Casablanca, are in conversations with Cristiano Ronaldo over signing the Portuguese to feature in the Club World Cup.

Ronaldo and Club World Cup 

Cristiano’s Al Nassr failed to qualify for the tournament, with bitter rivals Al Hilal, the 2021 Asian Cup champions, the only Saudi team in the competition.

FIFA has a unique rule for the Club World, which permits participating clubs to sign players for the purpose of the tournament, even if the transfer window has yet to open. 

Hence, it has been speculated that Ronaldo will join a team in the competition, and Al Hilal's name has been brought up on occasion. His Al Nassr contract expires on June 30, days after the competition begins on June 13th. 

Ronaldo is arguably the greatest footballer of all-time.

What Amrabat said 

Amrabat, who played for the Faris Najd from 2018 to 2021, said that his new club, Wydad Casablanca, were interested in signing Ronaldo for the World Cup.

Amrabat only recently signed for the Moroccan outfit ahead ofthe  tournament, and he revealed that they were also in conversations with Cristiano Ronaldo. 

“The president is very ambitious and is still working with some very big names. It is true that Cristiano is one of them,”  Amrabat said. when asked if Wydad held a concrete interest in Ronaldo.
