Ghana’s Black Stars secured a vital FIFA World Cup qualifying win over Mali, with stars Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Kudus, and Thomas Partey leading the charge toward 2026.

Ghana’s Black Stars moved closer to securing their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a crucial 1-0 victory over Mali on Monday night at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The winning goal came early in the second half when Alexander Djiku reacted fastest to a corner from Jordan Ayew, heading the ball home in the 49th minute to give Ghana the lead.

The match started with high intensity, with Caleb Yirenkyi delivering a dangerous cross inside the first ten minutes, forcing a clearance and a corner for the Black Stars.

Despite several promising chances, including a close effort from Antoine Semenyo set up by Mohammed Kudus just before halftime, the first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Ghana found the breakthrough to secure three vital points. The win was a much-needed response after the Black Stars dropped two points in a surprise draw against the 175th ranked Chad Republic during their previous away fixture.

Led by stars Semenyo, Kudus, and Thomas Partey, Ghana showed determination and composure to control the rest of the match and preserve their slender advantage.

This victory strengthens their bid for qualification as they edge closer to booking their place at next year’s World Cup.

The Black Stars now have a breather at the top, with three points separating them and Madagascar, who are second, with just two matches to go in the qualifiers.
