Nigeria's Flamingos have invited 30 players to camp in preparation for the FIFA U17 WWC qualifiers against South Africa.

Nigeria's U17 girls' national team, the Flamingos, are expected to commence their training camp on Sunday at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo.

They are gearing up for their two-legged FIFA U17 Women's World Cup qualifying match against South Africa's U17 team, Bantwana.

Coach Bankole Olowookere, who previously led the team to a third-place finish at the 2022 World Cup in India and the quarter-finals last year, has called up 30 players for the camp.

Nigeria had a bye into the second round of the African qualifiers while South Africa qualified after an aggregate win of 21-2 against Gabon.

“It is important that the Flamingos start their camping early for this second-round fixture, not just because South Africa won their first-round matches 21-2 on aggregate, but because that is the right thing to do,” NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, stated.

“We are aware that matches between Nigeria and South Africa are always full of heat, huge emotion on the part of players, officials and the fans, and determination to conquer on the part of the players.”
