Mesut Ozil, a former star for Arsenal, is reportedly planning a shocking comeback to football six months after quitting.

Ozil's speculation about the position came after the Turkish national team fired Stefan Kuntz as manager following a 4-2 loss to Japan.

According to reports Mesut Ozil could be returning to football in Turkey after recently retiring from both club and country.

Ozil shocking return

Ozil is reportedly being considered for a board position as the general manager of the Turkish club, according to the German publication Bild.

Joachim Low, the former manager of Germany, is apparently being lined up by the association to succeed Kuntz, and Ozil might be chosen to lead the Euros and World Cup preparations.

Kuntz was fired due to a number of unsuccessful attempts as well as a rift with Turkey's national hero Hakan Calhanoglou.

According to Bild, there have been rumours about Altintop's career being in jeopardy since as early as June. The most recent international results for Turkey did not help either.

Ozil's sudden comeback to sport after declaring his retirement in March would undoubtedly be a surprise.

After leaving Arsenal to join Fenerbahce in 2020, the midfielder most recently played for Istanbul Basaksehir, although injuries prevented him from regaining the brilliant form of his early career.

In 2022, he joined Basaksehir, however, he only played seven times for the team before retiring.
