Elder Chelsea statesman - Super Eagles-eligible Adarabioyo explains leadership role under Maresca

Tosin Adarabioyo is eagerly anticipating Chelsea's Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain, aiming to add another trophy to his CV after winning the Conference League earlier this year. 

The defender, who joined the Blues from Fulham in pursuit of silverware, expressed enthusiasm for the final, highlighting the unique experience of playing against global teams.

Despite being only 27, Tosin views himself as one of the elder statesmen in Enzo Maresca's youthful squad, a role he embraces in offering advice and guidance to teammates.

“It’s a strange one really!’ said Adarabioyo. “I’m only 27, but I’m one of the most senior players in the team.

“We’ve got a really talented young squad, with some amazing players and I just try to help and offer advice and guidance to the lads where I can.

“Our minds have been set on getting to the final and the gaffer's [Enzo Maresca] been great, giving us some downtime wherever we've been. We’ve done a lot of travelling in this tournament, so I think being able to do that has been really beneficial for us.”

Tosin attributed Chelsea's success in the tournament to a combination of hard work and balanced downtime, which has fostered strong squad bonding during their extensive travels. 

Chelsea players depart for their holidays after the Club World Cup final, returning in time for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 season.
