Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu is subject of interest to a Ligue 1 club.

Recently promoted Ligue 1 side Metz are reportedly interested in signing Super Eagles striker Paul Onauchu on a season-long loan from Southampton.

The Lanky forward joined the Saints in January and was hoped to help them fight the drop. However, he failed to find his feet, and Southampton were relegated to the Championship.

According to GFFN, Les Grenats are eyeing the Nigerian as a replacement for their talisman from last season, Georges Mikautadze, who moved to PSV Eindhoven.

The Ligue 1 side are looking to bring in the former Genk forward in their bid to retain their French top-flight status.

Onuachu was one of the Nigerians to be relegated from the Premier League last season. Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi dropped with Leicester City and Joseph Aribo was Onuachu’s teammate in the Southampton side that were dumped out of the English top-flight.

In the past few days, Iheanacho and Ndidi have both been linked with moves back to the Premier League. The interest in Onuachu is the latest in the line of interest in Nigerian players in the dredges of the Championship.
