Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to take over Chelsea's coaching role on a two-year contract.

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their head coach ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The Blues have handed the Argentine a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.

The club owners Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, José E. Feliciano, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss praised their sporting team for conducting a “a diligent and thoughtful process” that has climaxed with the arrival of Pochettino.

“The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of,” the owners said in a brief statement.

“We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board,” they added.

Pochettino is set to take over the reins on July 1st as he starts to reorganise the London Club that has had a tumultuous season finishing 12th in the English Premier League and missing out on a chance to play European football.

Pochettino replaces Frank Lampard who has been in charge as a caretaker since the sacking of Graham Potter who left after seven months.

The 51-year old has previously managed Espanyol in Spain, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur before crossing over to Paris Saint-Germain in France.
