Cyriel Dessers reveals reason behind unlocked top form under managers' guidance

Cyriel Dessers, the Super Eagles hitman, has been on a sensational streak since Philippe Clement took the reins at Rangers, moving away from the shadows of his early struggles under Michael Beale.

The Nigerian star's transformation has been nothing short of remarkable, turning boos into cheers at the Ibrox Stadium.

Dessers' bond with Clement

The striker's revelation about his bond with Clement sheds light on the turnaround. Speaking the same language has facilitated their communication, allowing Dessers to thrive on and off the pitch.

Desser said, as reported by Allnigeriasoccer, "I know the manager from Belgium - I played a couple of times against him when he was the manager at Club Brugge. We had a title battle when I was at Genk and we ended up second.

“It was clear in Belgium that he was an amazing manager, he won three titles back-to-back. He knows what's needed at this stage of the season and hopefully, he can repeat this again.

“Obviously, it's a little bit easier as when we have a personal talk we can speak in Dutch. That makes it a little bit easier for both of us. But there are no special things around it – it's not as of I'm his favourite because I was born in Belgium. That's not the case!"

Clement's Magic Touch

Dessers' resurgence is a testament to the profound impact Clement has had on the team and the striker personally. With 17 goal involvements in 24 appearances, Dessers is not just back in form; he's become a pivotal figure in Rangers' quest for glory. His connection with Clement, rooted in their Belgian ties, has been a game-changer.

Under Clement's stewardship, Rangers have clinched the Scottish League Cup for the first time since 2011 and are currently leading the Scottish Premiership, edging out perennial rivals Celtic.
