Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is making a decisive move to secure the services of the England international Kyle Walker.
According to well-regarded Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Walker has emerged as Fenerbahce’s top target for the right-back position in this summer’s transfer window.
The Turkish club are preparing for the departure of Bright Osayi-Samuel, whose contract expires at the end of June, and sees Kyle Walker as an ideal and experienced replacement.
Fenerbahce formally submitted an offer to Manchester City for the 35-year-old. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the move from exploratory talks to an official bid signals serious intent from the Istanbul-based side.
Reports from NTV Spor add that Fenerbahce also opened discussions with Walker’s representatives to determine his wage expectations.
The club is said to be willing to meet his demands to bring in a player of his pedigree, a five-time Premier League winner and Champions League veteran as they aim to bolster their backline under Mourinho’s leadership.
Walker’s future at Manchester City has become increasingly uncertain, with his playing time significantly reduced during the 2024–25 campaign. A loan spell at AC Milan in the second half of the season offered a brief change of scenery, but the England international struggled to rediscover his top form.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just a year away, Walker is running out of time to make a case for inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. A move to Fenerbahce could offer the consistent playing time he needs to stay relevant on the international stage while providing Mourinho with a seasoned leader in his push for domestic and European success.
