Days after he was sacked by Barcelona, reports surfaced that Chelsea are set to contact Xavi Hernandez to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Barcelona announced the sacking of their manager, Xavi Hernandez, a few days ago; however, he might not be away from coaching for too long as Chelsea are reportedly set to initiate talks with him to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Despite a resurgence after a poor start to the season, which helped Chelsea finish sixth, Chelsea mutually parted ways with Pochettino. They are now in the market for a “young manager” as a replacement, and according to a recent report, they have their eyes on Xavi Hernandez.

Chelsea to approach Xavi

According to a report from Pedro Almeida, Chelsea are preparing to open talks with departing Barcelona manager Xavi as the replacement for Pochettino.

Xavi was fired by Barcelona a few days ago, as Pulse Sports reported, and will lead the Blaugrana in his final game in charge in the LALIGA clash against Sevilla on Saturday night.

He is one of the few targets, however, with Roberto de Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca and Thomas Frank also on the list of possible replacements for the departed Pochettino.

Meanwhile, Xavi has challenged Barcelona president Joan Laporta to reveal the reasons behind his dismissal.
