Chelsea have reportedly made a decision regarding under-fire head coach Enzo Maresca after their crushing 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night.

The Blues were outclassed at the Amex Stadium, with Kaoru Mitoma scoring a stunning opener before Yankuba Minteh netted twice to seal a dominant win for the Seagulls.

Earlier in the season, Chelsea were seen as potential title contenders, but Maresca consistently downplayed expectations, insisting his squad was still developing.

While it has not come down well with the fans, the Italian’s fears have manifested, as the Blues have completely fallen off from the title race, now struggling for a place in the top four.

However, despite their recent struggles, The Athletic (via The Mirror) reports that the Chelsea board has no plans to sack Maresca and continues to support him.

Todd Boehly and the club’s hierarchy are reportedly pleased with the team's progress under Maresca, even believing he has exceeded expectations in his debut season.

There was never an expectation for Chelsea to secure Champions League football, especially after Mauricio Pochettino only managed a Conference League spot last season.

Maresca has so far won 21 wins out of 37 matches, drawing seven draws, and losing nine. Despite the clear decline over the course of the season, the club is prepared to give him time to build his project with his contract running until 2029.

While results like the Brighton loss raise concerns, Chelsea’s ownership remains committed to their long-term vision, trusting Maresca to continue shaping the team for future success.
