Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Chelsea's defender following the draw against Manchester City.

Chelsea's recent clash with Manchester City ended in a nail-biting 1-1 draw, but it was Chelsea's Axel Disasi who stole the spotlight with a defensive masterclass reminiscent of Premier League legends.

Disasi's performance at the Etihad Stadium, marked by an impressive 16 clearances, three blocks, and a perfect record in aerial duels, drew high praise from Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher.

Disasi's Defensive Dominance

In the heart of Chelsea's defense alongside Levi Colwill, Disasi's role was pivotal in holding the formidable Manchester City attack at bay.

Raheem Sterling's goal had given Chelsea the lead, but it was Disasi's Herculean effort in defense that kept the Blues in the game until Rodri's late equalizer for City.

Disasi's display was a throwback to a bygone era of defensive grit and determination, showcasing a style of play where putting the body on the line and making crucial interventions were the order of the day.

Carragher's Glowing Tribute

Jamie Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, did not hold back in his admiration for Disasi's performance, comparing it to that of Chelsea legend John Terry.

"That was a John Terry performance and I can't give any higher praise than that. I can't remember a better defensive performance this season, certainly from a central defender," Carragher said.

This commendation places Disasi in elite company, underscoring the magnitude of his contribution to the team's effort against one of the league's most potent offenses.

Disasi's journey since his £39 million move from AS Monaco in 2023 has been nothing short of remarkable.

Starting every match for Chelsea this season, he has become an indispensable figure in their backline, even contributing two goals, one of which came on his Premier League debut.
