World Cup hero Yassine "Bono" Bounou's move to Al-Hilal will see him earn up to six times his former wages at Sevilla

Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine “Bono” Bounou is set for a massive payday after joining Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal on a three-year deal from LaLiga side Sevilla.

Bono completes Al-Hilal move

Bounou was unveiled as an Al-Hilal player on social media, with the Saudi Pro League side welcoming the 2022 World Cup semifinalist and UEFA Europa League champion to the club as the latest in their catalogue of stars.

The Moroccan joins just days after Al-Hillal announced the signing of Brazilian superstar Neymar with a reported $400 million salary over the course of two years.

While Bounou will not earn nearly as much as Neymar, the Moroccan goalkeeper is still set to enjoy a significant wage rise for joining Al-Hilal and could earn up to six times his wages at Sevilla.

According to Marca, Bono will enjoy a salary of up to €12 million at Al-Hilal after barely scratching the €2 million mark at Sevilla.

Sevilla will also receive a significant payday from the deal, pocketing more than €21 million for the sale of the Moroccan goalkeeper who still had a deal with them until 2025 before Al-Hilal came calling.

Los Nervionenses have enjoyed four years of Bounou, where the Moroccan number one helped them to two Europa League titles and two top-four finishes in LaLiga.

Bounou was also on the radar of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but will instead be joining Neymar, and other Al-Hilal stars like ex-Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Reuben Neves as they try to reclaim the Saudi Pro League title from Al-Ittihad.
