The Gunners' injury concerns are mounting ahead of the Liverpool encounter.

Arsenal will face another acid test in their quest to end their 19-year Premier League drought when they tackle Liverpool on Sunday but have eight injury concerns ahead of the match.

The Gunners are coming off a morale-boosting 4-1 win over Leeds United on Saturday which maintained their eight-point gap at the summit of the log with nine matches remaining till the end of the season.

Here are some of the injury concerns for Arsenal ahead of the Liverpool clash at Anfield Stadium.

Bukayo Saka

The England international started from the bench in the clash against Leeds United but came on at the hour mark for Gabriel Jesus who was also making his first start after overcoming a knee injury.

He is however expected to start against Liverpool despite the fitness concerns last weekend with Mikel Arteta revealing why he failed to start.

“He wasn’t able to train yesterday (last Friday) as he wasn’t well but today he feels a little bit better, so we’ve put Gabby [Jesus] in."

Mohamed Elneny

The Egyptian midfielder last featured in the 3-0 win over Oxford United in the FA Cup in which he scored and has been out with a knee issue picked up in training.

Arsenal revealed that the 30-year-old will be out for an extended period although a time frame for his return is yet to be issued.

Thomas Partey

Despite starting against Leeds, Partey was hooked off at the hour mark following concerns about his full fitness after missing Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola during the international break.

Arteta noted that the former Atletico Madrid midfielder is carrying an injury and needs to be managed as Arsenal enter the business end of the season.

“We have a really good relationship with the Ghanaian federation and we have to manage and look after our players.

"They’ve been really positive about it as well. We have to manage our players. It works both ways. He obviously wasn’t fit enough to play the second game but hopefully he’ll be back for the weekend."

Ben White

With Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu injured, the former Leeds United defender remains the only fit right back for Arsenal but has also had some fitness issues with Arteta providing a fitness update.

"He [White] had some issues in the last few days but he’s a big fighter and he wanted to be here.

"With the injury of Tomiyasu, we are a bit short in that position. He scored a goal as well which is good news for him and he was very good again,"

Takehiro Tomiyasu

The defender is expected to be out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury in their UEFA Europa League clash against Sporting Lisbon.

"Tomi has had successful surgery in London on Tuesday and will be ruled out for the remainder of this season. Everyone at the club will now be working hard with Tomi, so he can join pre-season training ahead of next season," read a statement from the club.

Eddie Nketiah

The 23-year-old has been an able deputy to Gabriel Jesus while he was injured and is not expected to feature until mid-April with Arteta revealing he still has a few weeks to return to full fitness.

"He’s getting better. He’s still in the boot. He’s still a few weeks away and we need to be patient. It was a nasty injury and he has a big challenge ahead of him. Thank God it could have been worse. So he’s not in a bad place," said Arteta.

Kieran Tierney

The Scotland international was stretchered off in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Spain following a heavy challenge from Manchester City midfielder Rodri but could return in the clash against Liverpool.

William Saliba

Saliba was another one of Arsenal's defenders who picked up an injury in the Europa League against Sporting Lisbon after suffering a back problem.

"We are trying to manage him in the best possible way. Unfortunately, he’s not gonna be fit for this game [against Leeds] and we’re trying and he’s trying to do everything to feel better and get back training. But not yet.

"I am very hopeful and he is as well. Back injuries are a bit tricky and how they evolve with the load that you put in certain areas. He’s very positive and the medical staff are positive about it. Let’s push it every day and see how he copes with that and how the pain develops as well. He’s so willing to be back in the team," said Arteta.
