Mane has been fined a whooping €350,000 by his club Bayern Munich after he forgot his hands on teammate Leroy Sane.
The Senegal international had a furious dressing room incident with Sane following the embarrassing defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg.
Both players started the row on the pitch before coming to blows as they stepped into the Etihad Stadium tunnel during the 3-0 defeat.
Mane fined record fee
The attack from the former Liverpool superstar left his teammate bloodied leading to a suspension and fine by his new club, Bayern.
The Bavarians have hit hard on the wing forward after slapping a record €350,000 on the AFCON winner.
Mane’s suspension meant he was dropped for the game against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
However, he is expected to rejoin his teammates for the quarterfinal second leg clash against Manchester City in Germany.
Bayern are looking to become the fifth side to overturn a three or more goal deficit from the first leg after Liverpool, Barcelona, Roma and Deportivo la Coruna in the Champions Leagues.
Tuchel defends Mane
Meanwhile, in a related development, Bayern manager, Thomas Tuchel, has backed the Senegal star to bounce back from the Sane row.
Last week, the former Chelsea boss confirmed the punishment but defended the African champion who he said has never done this before.
“Yes, these are consequences of his behaviour,” Tuchel noted. “It was important that we clarified the matter before we started the next training session.”
“We have cleared up everything so that we can train positively with each other again.”
“The way both players involved dealt with it and the other players, it had a cleansing effect. I am the first to defend him and i have known him for very long. He has never been guilty of anything like this before.”
Bayern will be hoping that Mane can help them make history when they welcome their former boss, Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side to the Allianz Arena.
