It was a late show from Ijebu United in their Nigeria National League, NNL, opener at Joy Cometh on Wednesday.
Ijebu United came from behind to score two late goals to snatch three points away from their hosts Joy Cometh at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Ifeanyi and Kingsley were the heroes of the day for Ijebu as they kicked off their 2023 NNL season with a deserved victory.
No joy for Cometh vs Ijebu United in the NNL
What started like a bright and joyous day at the office, ended in disappointment for home side Joy Cometh.
Cometh started on the front foot and took the lead in the second quarter of the game against Ijebu United at the break.
However, they failed to hold on to the lead, capitulating in 12 second half minutes as Ijebu United bounced back with two late goals.
Ifeanyi started the comeback when he equalised for Ijebu in the 72nd minute before Kingsley completed the turnaround with the second goal six minutes from time.
City not so Smart vs Sporting Lagos
Sporting Lagos were another team who won their opener away from home after seeing off Smart City.
Two goals in either half were all the Sporting team needed to see off their hosts Smart City.
Godswill Taro's excellent finish opened the scoring for Sporting while Okon Saturday made it 2-0 in the second half.
Smart City pulled one back almost immediately after Sporting’s second goal to make it a more intense contest.
But the visitors held on for the win to begin their campaign most possibly, with a win.
