Guardiola has spoken about the Kyle Walker bar incident and how he plans to manage it

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reacted for the first time to the Kyle Walker incident, where the Cityzens’ right back was caught on tape in a Manchester bar.

Walker, Annie Kilner, was seen on CCTV dirty dancing with a mystery woman at a bar while clearly inebriated.

Walker to be dealt with internally

Walker was seen arriving already drunk before downing bottles of beer and taking shots at the bar as well. In the aftermath of his booze cruise, Walker was also caught on camera taking down his trousers and exposing himself to the woman he was dancing with as well as other stunned bar patrons.

Speaking on the matter publicly for the first time, Guardiola was keen to stress that the Walker incident was a private matter and the club will deal with the full-back internally.

When asked about the incident, Guardiola said “A private issue. We solve it internally, speaking with him. This is not the place to talk about a private situation.”

When you open the door at home, you will be filmed — Guardiola

Guardiola also gave a stern reminder to Manchester City’s younger players in light of the Walker situation, saying that the world was watching them and that they needed to be careful about their behaviour in public to avoid ending up in similar situations.

“They know it already. When you open the door at home, you have to know that you will be filmed, whatever you do. It is part of the society,” Guardiola concluded.

It is unclear at the moment what punitive steps Manchester City will take against Walker or whether he will face litigation for indecent exposure after his drunken night out, but it is unlikely that he will escape without some form of punishment.

Meanwhile, Manchester City travel to Crystal Palace this weekend, hoping to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal with a win on their quest for a third successive Premier League title.
