Man Utd to receive 30 medals but Ronaldo will not get one
Manchester United will face Newcastle in the EFL Cup final on Sunday for a chance to win their first trophy since 2017. However, if Manchester United win, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was registered to Manchester United at some point this season, will not receive a winning medal.
Ronaldo will not receive a medal
The 38-year-old Portuguese was a member of the Manchester United squad for the first-half of the season, playing 16 games for the Red Devils; however, he would not be receiving a medal for the EFL Cup final as he did not feature in the competition for Erik ten Hag's side this season.
Thirty medals will be awarded to the winning and losing finalists. And regardless of what the outcome is for Manchester United, Ronaldo, who left United under contentious circumstances, will not be given one.
Of his 16 games for Manchester United this season, ten came in the Premier League and six in the Europa League. He did not feature in the EFL Cup for the Red Devils but was an unused substitute when Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 4-2 in the third round of the competition.
What it means for Ronaldo
Ronaldo is now enjoying life at Al-Nassr in the Saudi Professional League, scoring nine goals in only five games. However, he and his Al-Nassr side have already been knocked out of the league cup by Al-Ittihad.
However, the Faris Najd are the current leaders of the league and are favourites to win it with Ronaldo's inclusion and his form so far. The Portuguese could be on course for his 35th senior title.
Also, the EFL Cup medal is present in Ronaldo's trophy collection. He has won the trophy twice in his first spell at Manchester United, scoring in both finals in the triumphs over Wigan Athletic and Tottenham Hotspur.
