Resigned Mohammed, and hired Dogo, are the only managerial changes in the 2023 NPFL season, so far.

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kwara United have officially announced former Wikki Tourist manager Kabiru Dogo, as the club's new head coach, replacing Abdulazeez Mohammed who had resigned barely 5 hours earlier.

Mohammed left his position as first-team coach of the Harmony Boys after they fell to a 2-0 loss to Nasarawa United at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday.

The defeat meant that Kwara United had now lost in three consecutive matches, and had also won just once in their seven matches this season.

Following the 2-0 defeat, Mohammed threw in the towel at his post-match conference, and added that “the potentials are there for us to do well, but, unfortunately, things are going the wrong way."

Kwara United bring in Mohammed's replacement

Barely five hours after his departure, the Ilorin club announced Kabiru Dogo: who was the first manager to resign from his job this season, as Mohammed's replacement.

The move, according to the club's leadership, 'is necessary' to prevent a vacuum in the club's technical department before their next league games.

"@KwaraUnitedFC has announced former @WikkiTouristFC Coach, Kabiru Sulaiman Dogo as the Club's new T.A replacing Coach Abdulazeez who resigned this evening," the club said in their statement.

"The appointment is with immediate effect. A message by the Club's Chairman said it's very necessary to name another coach as leaving the vacuum will not augur well for the Club, describing the moment as crucial.

"This is coming few minutes after the resignation of Coach Abdulazeez after the 2-0 loss to @NasarawaUnited this evening in the #NPFL23 #MD7 encounter."

Dogo to take first 'test' on February 15

Dogo's first job as Kwara United's boss will be a tie with Remo Stars who they'll face in a week 8 midweek encounter.

Dogo on his part, resigned from his position at Wikki Tourists in January, after repeatedly stating that he was not the problem behind the club's misfortunes.

His move saw about five other club backroom officials follow suit, similarly claiming that the Bauchi was a difficult place to work at.
