The draw for the male cricket teams has placed Team Ogun in Group B for the T-20 format, alongside Zamfara and Kaduna states.
The men’s side, captained by national team player Sesan Adedeji, bounced back impressively on Thursday with a dominant 9-wicket victory over Team Zamfara. After losing on technical grounds to Team Kaduna earlier in the week, Ogun needed a decisive result and they delivered.
The match saw Zamfara post a modest 73 all out in 20 overs, before Ogun chased it down with ease, reaching 74/1 in just 5 overs.
Speaking after the match, skipper Adedeji expressed confidence in the team’s chances moving forward.

"Each of the three groups has one leader who qualifies automatically to the semifinal, plus the best-placed second team. We’re taking it one game at a time, and our focus is firmly on the gold medal," he added.
The Ogun female cricket team has been equally impressive, recording back-to-back victories to seal their spot in the last four.
