The Basketball Africa League (BAL) Playoffs in South Africa have now been established after Al Ahli Tripoli (Libya) defeated MBB (South Africa) 102-73 and APR (Rwanda) upset Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya) 77-74.

When the BAL Playoffs begin at SunBet Arena in Pretoria on June 6, Al Ahli and APR will be joined by BAL debutant Al Ittihad (Egypt), Rivers Hoopers (Nigeria), last year's semifinalist, 2022 BAL champion US Monastir (Tunisia), the reigning champion Petro de Luanda (Angola), BAL debutant Kriol Star (Cape Verde), and FUS Rabat (Morocco).
Jaylen Adams scored 28 points and made 9 of 15 from the field to lead Al Ahli. Teafale Lenard Jr. scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead MBB.
Despite Pieter Prinsloo's 11 points and five rebounds, MBB was unable to defeat the poised Libyan team, who made half of their attempts.

It came down to the last seconds and Obadia Noel's (16 points) incredible three-pointer for APR to win, even though Aliou Diarra finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and eight blocks, while Youssoupha Ndoye contributed 18 points and eight rebounds.
With 29 points, Onyango Odero led the City Thunder, followed by William Davis II with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Uchenna Iroegbu with 16.
This will be the first time the BAL Playoffs and Finals are held in South Africa, and the 2025 BAL Playoffs and Finals will be held at SunBet Arena in Pretoria from June 6–14.
